INNOVATIVE PARTS FOR YOUR 'OLDEN GOLDIE'
Honda GoldWing Parts GL1000, GL1100, GL1200
Kit 2 and 3
We are pleased to be able to bring you the first two of our innovative upgrades for the GL1000
The very last of the GL1000 in 1979, known in the UK as the KZ model, had a different arrangement of rear swinging arm bearings to the earlier models.
It utilised a pair of roller thrust bearings and thrust washers instead of the easily broken pivot thrust bushes 52109-371-000 which are now unobtainable.
This kit replicates that OEM set-up which also used a slightly longer pair of main needle roller bearings.
This is a significantly improved design from an engineering point of view.
Both these kits will also include a pair of our new dust/grease seals to replace the OEM 52145-371-000 dust cover. These are necessary because the outer diameter of the thrust bearing and washer is slightly larger than the old thrust bush resulting in the old style ones not sealing.
In almost all instances, by the time comes for the bearings to be renewed, the old seals will be long past doing their job anyway and again they are almost impossible to find now, which is why these new seals have been developed, in conjunction with Randakk's Cycle Shop.

Because the pivot collars are slow movers and ordered in small quantities, the cost of having them manufactured has got to the point where It is not viable at the moment. We will look at this again in the future, but for now that is the position.
PLEASE REMEMBER WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE 'FOR SALE' PARTS AND THEIR PRICE, SOME OF THESE ARE OF NECESSITY MANUFACTURED IN SMALL BATCHES FOR A RELATIVELY SMALL NICHE MARKET AND THEREFORE WILL COST CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN WHEN HONDA MADE PARTS IN MILLIONS.
