INNOVATIVE PARTS FOR YOUR 'OLDEN GOLDIE'
Honda GoldWing Parts GL1000, GL1100, GL1200
1) The easiest time to do this is when you have the carbs off for rebuild, but can be done with them in situ.
Clean the white OEM buttons with contact cleaner or methelated spirits to remove the road grime and grease.
Since the usual reason for using these new buttons is because the old ones are shabby, it is unlikely that you will wish to revert
to the original, so I have found that it is best to slightly roughen up the old plastic with some sandpaper to get a key for the
silicon sealer.
Take care not to damage the alloy round the plastic.
2) Place some silicon sealer/adhesive on the old button and sink the O ring into it.
I usually use black silicon and smooth it around the outside of the O ring where it meets the button.
3) Place some silicon on the top of the old button, remove one of the decorative caps from the wax paper and centre it over the O
ring.
4) Take some care to get the orientation of the logo right, clean up any excess silicon and make sure everything is concentric before
setting the carb cap aside to set.
5) Repeat for the other three carbs.
